Shurely 777 would improve RoF if they were able to do so, but those faults were there from the beginning and weren't mended, despite laments from the users all the years.

It may be hard to hear this, but compromises on the level of realism are required to make a simulator commercially viable these days. (unless you go the DCS route?? and who wants to wait 18months to 2 years for each aircraft?)

Unfortunately the community found this out the hard way with CLOD and have been teased by what could have been. But thats the point.. it's very much a "could have been", because even CLOD was not even close to the original promises Oleg made. Graphically it looked good in some aspects, phenomenal in the cockpit and the external aircraft models, but the lighting and landscape never matched the quality of the aircraft. The sounds were ordinary, the damage model was significantly dumbed down from the original release as were the texture qualities all dialed down. There are numerous other problems that have been discussed to death, the bottom line... CLOD spent a year going backwards just to get to a half playable state.

So the facts now are that we have to lower our expectations and thats going to be hard for sure... BUT...

I think even though CLOD promised so much, it lost it's soul from the original IL2. At this point there is no other option but to put the faith into 1c/777 restoring the soul of the IL2 series. For me that means I can live without a lot of what we saw and were promised in CLOD.

I will be happy to see a thriving community with 600 players online with a 1946 IL2 style play brought forward to 2014 with better graphics, landscapes, DM, FM, AI and online MP/Co-op. And I think thats just exactly what 1C/777 will set out to do.

I can live without dynamic weather, animated pilots, cockpit details down to the last scratched rivet, clickable cockpits, blueprint constructed models and damage models.... Just to have the original soul of IL2... which was at the end of it fun.. and despite the 400 hours or so ive spent in CLOD, It doesnt come close to the thousands of hours I spend in IL2 and It had never once given me the same feeling I had playing IL2... and that my friends is why although its sad to let go of the promise of CLOD and BoM... Im all for the rebirth of IL2 with 1C/777. 777 have proven they can make a commercial success with a very appealing graphics and game engine... no its not CloD but I think its for the better for it!
