Jiver,

Be aware that stock 4.12 now supports custom sounds. HSFX-7 is based on 4.12, so there are at least two big groups that can benefit from your new project.

Do the Jiver engine sounds , sound as good as the tiger flybys ? I do like the tiger sounds but it seems they only work intermittently .

Pencon,

Tiger's Fly-by sounds are very impressive but it is my opinion that they are a little too loud. I also have had issues with the sounds cutting out from time to time but I believe there are patches to fix this issue. If you go over to the SAS1946 site and look under the "Soundz" section you will find a very large thread dedicated to Tiger's sound mod.

In my sound mod I attempted to balance the external engine sounds with the other sounds in the game (namely the gun and cannon sounds). The engine sounds are still loud and impressive sounding (as they should be!) but they do not totally drown out the gun and cannon sounds. I spent a ton of time tweaking the external engine sounds to get them just right. Sound is totally subjective so you will have to try them out and see if they are to your liking.

Hi Jiver,
Great to have you here!

One thing I noticed from the original version posted here was that I would occasionally get a rare, random bullet hit sounds in cockpit when no one externally or on the ground was firing at my kite. I think one other person also commented likewise.

Look forward to version 2!

Hi Aviar,

Yes, it is inevitable that I will eventually have to create a "unified" sound mod that will work for all the popular mod packs. One of the big problems is that I made custom engine sounds for the multi-engine planes which require a modified buttons file. So consequently I must include this modded buttons file with my sound mod and it must work with all of the mod packs out there. I have also used some custom naming conventions for nearly all of the machine guns and cannons in the game which further complicates things. When I initially created the mod back in 2009 it was just a simple sound replacement mod. Over the years it has grown into a much more complicated project!
