Kudos to 69thvirtualfightergroup ~S Make sure the folders reflect the same hierarchy as the original (empty) ones. Decompressed, the folders were a bit out of place and only some sounds were added. Last edited by Ventura; 04-29-2014 at 01:41 AM. Reason: addendum |

Can you possibly elaborate a bit on this...maybe with some examples? I'm currently experimenting with Soundpack v5.0 and the folders seem correct to me. Aviar

After you decompress "412soundpackV5.0", 'my_presets' has 'acoustics' and 'sound' as two subfolders. 'acoustics' needs to be a subfolder inside 'sounds'. You will get a mix of stock and soundpack sounds if you just drop it in as is. |

If you enable in your conf.ini file "DebugSounds=1", you'll see in game (hitting Shift+Tab to watch console) that "presets" are picked from the two separate folders. I believe that set (one folder inside another) is typical of mods, which do have their own classfiles and maybe work differently.

I'm not sure who to believe. We have two people with differing opinions on the correct folder structure of a particular sound mod. Is there a way to get a definitive answer to this issue?

Quoting myself:
"If you enable in your conf.ini file "DebugSounds=1", you'll see in game (hitting Shift+Tab to watch console) that "presets" are picked from the two separate folders." More in detail, you'll see that "acoustics" presets are picked from "...\my_presets\acoustics" and not from "...\my_presets\sounds\acoustics". On the contrary, if stored so, you'll get in console a "NOT FOUND!" warning. Of course, the above mentioned procedure works only in 4.12, since enabled together with the custom sounds option.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, I recently re installed IL2, updated to 4.12.2m and installed Jivers sound mod.
It says the engine sounds are Jafas, I must say, I had every single Jafa mod I had 4.09 + HSFX 5.1. These sounds are not Jafas engine sounds. I tested the Merlin, Griffon, Sabre, DB600s, and Jumos. None sounded like the original Jafa sounds. I installed then as per instructed, just took the contents from inside them 2 zipped folders and installed them into the my preset and my samples in the main IL2 directory. This is how the Sabre is supposed to sound, sounds nothing like this in the Jivers mod, did he modify Jafa's sounds at all? |

Has anyone been able to activate the wing.wav sound in either stock or online sounds for own aircraft (in cockpit or external)?
For example: In QMB, create a Scramble mission on Midway1 with F6f-5s and TBF-1s. On start, you can hear engine sounds, flap hydraulics but not the wing.wav in my_samples on any of the aircraft unfolding wings externally or internally. Bringing up the null values in the my_presets/sounds/wing.prs does nothing. |
