Default widescreen support for 16:9 monitors

One of my friends has already had the pleasure to try the EU demo but unfortunately he is forced to play the game in a letterbox (black bars on both sides of the screen, all because of the 4:3 ratio).

The only thing we are absolutely sure of is that the game supports 16:10 as I can run it in 1440x900 without any problems.

Do any of you guys know about an .ini tweak, mod or oncoming patch that would solve this problem and would make the game playable on 16:9 resolutions as well?

Appreciated, thanks!

No, that's not what I meant 16:10 works fine for me (that's 1440x900) but 16:9 resolutions don't seem to be available in the options menu. Here's a screenshot, it's easy to see the two black bars on each side:

@Jelry

I emailed pskoglund@digitalriver.com with my problem.

Ironically, this morning I tried activating the game with my serial number and it worked, so I'm not sure what the problem was. I'm thinking maybe there was an issue with the server.

This post is taken from the Wives/Children bonuses thread. I have the same exact problem as the person who posted this.

Try seeing her FIRST after you kill either the Kraken or James.
I have the digital download version from Atari's website. I can add that I have tried killing the Kraken, talking to Mirabella, then killing James and talking to Mirabella again... it still results in a crash to desktop. No error message is given.

Default Game Instantly Crashes

I just bought the download version of the game and my activation code worked fine, but I can't get it to run.. I read through all of these posts and found several other people receiving the same error, but because they had old machines, but mine should definitely be able to handle this game.. Any help would be really appreciated! I just tried running the demo instead and received the exact same error.

Error message:

.\.BMRender\rmode.cpp(1583): DirectX call failed: -1, -1,D3DERR_INVALIDCALL (The method call is invalid. For example, a method's parameter may not be a valid pointer)

My computer:

Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Phenom 9500 - quad core 2200mhz
3 gig RAM
DirectX 9c (also tried 10)
ATI Radeon HD 3650 - 1 gig built in memory

Same Mirabella issue here. Atari downloaded version as well, not sure if that matters.

Here is a SS of the reply selected which results in a crash to desktop (no error). After killing James and Kraken.

Both of them are terrible for games, but if you like torturing yourself instead of spending a mere $150 on an nVidia 8800GT/9800GTX or Ati HD4850 card that would run the game excellently, then the 7600GS would be a marginally better choice.
