Default What the heck happened?

Hello gents!

I have been out of the loop and apparently much more so than I thought. On a lark, I wanted to see how CoD was doing and have been quite shocked by what I'm seeing! Anyone care to enlighten me in regards to what has happened and/or is happening?

From what I've been able to glean...

-Cliffs of Dover was a financial failure and is no longer supported?
-Like Oleg, Luthier has left? Was he fired? Did he quit Maddox Games? Is he involved in the upcoming sequel(s)?
-Is the Korean project also dead?
-What exactly is the sequel? I had heard of "Battle of/for/over Moscow" but now I'm hearing about "Battle of Stalingrad"? Which is it? Both? Neither?
-Is Maddox Games involved at all with this sequel?
-Ubisoft is out and 777 Studios will now be publishing, correct?

Official Announcement:
http://il2sturmovik.net/

FAQ regarding this merging of teams:
http://forum.il2sturmovik.net/topic/...of-stalingrad/

Should answer most questions. Interestingly, this forum has gotten really quiet of late - even with BOS being well over a year away, and far as I know CLoD still runs for those that have it installed. I am somewhat surprised there is not more activity here. Guess most are mainly frequenting the new IL2 Sturmovik forum now.

Q. Why was the Digital Nature engine chosen instead of the CLOD engine?

A. The Digital Nature engine is an advanced game engine that has been developed over several years and powers ROF with great results. Besides being relatively bug free and well-functioning, it has advanced physics, realistic flight-modeling, progressive damage modeling, complex ballistics, detailed environmental modeling, detailed terrain modeling and superb graphics rendering. Above all else it is more modular and flexible than the CLOD engine. It can even support different types of player vehicles from main battle tanks to giant robots. Using the Digital Nature engine will provide users with a well-functioning product at launch that can be brought to market fairly quickly. It can still be further enhanced in the future as needed.

Q. Will BOS install over CLOD as promised by previous management?

A. Sorry it will not, BOS will be based on a completely different engine and be a completely different product line.

hahah

I didn't say Lu' does imaging, of course it's Oleg.
In fact I have no clue what the future of Ilya is, all we can hope for is he focuses on proj. Galba again.

The initial question was if luthier has left. You answered "yes, he was fired and does an imaging project", without clarifying if you were talking about luthier or oleg.... that confused me...

but never mind. I also hope that we will hear somthing from Luthier sometime...

Afaik, Oleg wasn´t fired but left on his own...
(altough in many and probably this case as well, it is just a question of the point of view you have...)
