good luck
What I did was I built a 2 meter RC glider and tossed it off a hill a bunch of times. Thats how I learned how to fly an airplane. Then I started using a high-start and thermalling it. After a bout a year of that a bought an ARF trainer with tricycle gear, and just took off. Then came the Tail dragger cub. I have had my crashes, but I went about learning RCs by myself and it wasn't too big of an ordeal. The glider is a good way to start out, it was for me atleast.
