1974/5 HQ and HJ Monaro's had disc front ends and drums on the back. The drums after you set them up are self adjusting. The rear end had coil springs for better ride and if you hit the brake hard enough the rears would unload then lock up. Just part of the fun when driving a early 70s muscle car

. The engineers set the suspension up for safety. Going hard into a corner the H series suffered understeer to make you back off into the corners and I guess with the roads of the time (many were gravel) you are better of keeping some sort of control with the rears locking first.
