See my sig for what I'm running and I am pretty disappointed to have turn AA off and every thing down to Medium and still get only 25fps in free flight over England. More than that there is clearly stuttering going on that is unrelated to FPS. I am willing to give the developers some time to sort it out, but I'm disappointed when I had such fond memories of IL2.

I'll keep playing with settings to see if I can get an improvement, but I'd rather be learning to fly than fiddling with graphics options!
I suspect (as in speculating) that the stuttering may be memory caching on either the gpu or ram, as new assests are being loaded. Try turning down shadows, trees, buildings, grass. For advice and tweaks to make check out the technical sub-forum.

Is this a laptop computer? And is your GPU the GTX 485 M? if so, how much GPU memory do you have?

Call of Duty Black ops plays on my laptop, too. Not surprising really, as it is at heart a console port.

Approx. 60 fps over the sea.. 25 - 40 over land, that's fine with me. Anything over 20 is perfectly playable.

It's interesting that you're reporting good performance and have an SSD, theres more and more people reporting good performance using SSD. This might be the start of something.

Yeah, My guess is the amount of video ram has a big difference. I dont have the sim yet, but I do have ROF which has some heavy duty ground graphics and pyshics involved. I run a 2 gig Geforce 560Ti and when I load up everything to max It shows I use 53% of video ram. After flying I look at MSI afterburner and the ram usage agrees with what the ROF panel shows me. So if I had only 1 gig of ram I would be in big trouble with ROF. In fact it gives you warnings when you hit 95% usage that the game may not be flyable at the present settings. My card is a Palit geforce 560ti 2 gig. Got it from New Egg. In ROF I get between low 40s to high 50s FPS and that is with everything turned all the way up. Asus P5K deluxe, Q9550 @ 3.6ghz, 8 gig ddr2 ram @ 1066. So good performace on a older pc. And in ROF all the flights are over land.

I will have to wait till April 18th for my game to ship, I paid for 2nd day air. so hopefully I will be flying on the 20th. I just hope COD does as well as ROF.

i agree with the previous post, vidio RAM is the bottleneck, my system ( intel i5, 3 gb memory, ngforce 240 1gb) was running very jerkily, I've turned landscape rendering video options right down and now its nice and smooth and still looks loads better than the old il2

ASUS Sabertooth mobo
i7 950 o/c @ 4GHz
6Gb RAM
EVGA Superclocked Nvidia GTX570
750W PSU
Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit
TrackIR4 running TrackIR5 software
Saitek X52Pro and Pedals

First impressions out of the box...

Left 'as installed' (Medium settings), FPSs 58-60 (Samsung Monitor is 60Hz refresh) over water, dropping further into the 50s over land. Running the Spitfire and Hurricane Free Flights.

High Settings, 40-50 over water, dropping into the 30-45 over land in a Blenheim over the island atolls and even further to 15-30 at low level with a face full of trees.

I'll be turning the grass off and playing with more settings tomorrow but for starters it isn't bad.

My friend is running i7 3.4GHz, 6Gb RAM and Nvidia 255 (265?) and getting 17-30 with medium settings.

All the above noted when flying on his game PC acting as a server for us. Blenheims were 6 off.

Too early to tell really but it could be a GPU issue, our 4 cores were not much taxed. My low level run had the first thread of each core loaded as approx 75%, 30%, 15%, 10% and ~3Gb RAM used.

How do I measure GPU RAM used?

Views seem a bit more restricted than IL-2, especially in Gunsight view which limits head movement to about 90' each side. My TrackIR IL-2 settings seem a bit twitchy in BobTheCod, more to investigate.

Not the most objective report, just an indicator.

I am starting to see a pattern as well...

Guys with duel (2x) GPUs seem to be getting far more issues than others
guys with single GPUs. Maybe COD has a major issue with SLI and CROSSFIRE
configurations - Well, I should add, over and above the fact that SLI
doesn't work at the moment.

Interesting.

Interesting.
Luthier admitted hey have screwed up the SLi/Crossfire and are working on it. He suggests truning it off for now.

See here:

Also some useful settings guides as a first pass.

I seem to have very reasonable performance. at all high settings. 2xaa. not that AA looks like it has been enabled correctly.

I7 920oc to 3.8
8 gig ram
2wd 250gig in raid 0
ati 69502gb
11.4 beta drivers from guru 3d
seems to me if you start with medium settings it plays like a slide show.
I went all the way down to low everything.
When I put all settings to high except for enabled roads and grass it played very well 30 - 60 FPS.
might consider trying to lock fps at 30 ? might help the stutters ?
