While true, Il2 already does this since a few years Of course with much more detailed plane components modeled, the final hit calculations will be slightly more demanding, and that's where the real progress of the damage model will be, not in visual bullet holes.

As damage decals seem to be a quality setting it's possible they were disabled here. That cumulative damage is still represented by more generic damage textures should be a non-brainer - nobody calculates physically correct deformation of rigid bodies in real time.

infact i could see individual bullet hole decals in this vid. Right after shooting at the 109, and showing the closeup at . As the camera pans below you can see bullet holes under the belly (06:45) and afterwards riddle the tailplane (07:04). I am a little scared because AI behaviour looks just like IL-2. A little wingtip damage and then an unrecoverable spin towards the ground. If you've ever been shot at in IL-2 and nearly lost a wing to damage, you know it's still flyable enough to get back to base, even if you can only bank in one direction (use rudder to induce roll).

Sounds are poor. Period. They're the ones from the original series in this vid. I think they have better ones for the release.
