Dwarven High Hammer Absorbs Spells?

So, I beat the 47K HP gremlin towers and unlocked the Dwarven High Hammer which does a lot of buffs for dwarves but more importantly confers a 10% crit chance to all!

However, I noticed it also does something undocumented. It claims to absorbs spells every round.

I'm not sure if it is eating a debuff or buff (enemy) every round. It seems to based on the dialogue but I can't quite tell for sure.

Very interesting to use for players as nothing in the description would indicate it does this.

It seems to cast a level 3 dispel on a random applicable stack at the start of every round. I was using it for a while until I replaced it with a battleaxe. It's useful, but not reliable unfortunately - why clear blind from my berserkers when it could clear the first level of black knights' fury?
