Default The Fairey Battle

Ok so its something I keep wondering,.. can anyone help? Where on earth did the navigator fit, did he have to lie down with the maps somewhere in the fuselage with a torch?
Also what was the point in having a long glass canopy when only the pilots section and rearmost gunner position needed visibility?
Was there any need for the long glass bit in the middle which was covered underneath?
The gunner, when he went to shoot (with canony rocked back) did he sit on the backrest of the chair to have an elevated position as he seems rather low down here..

I see this but no navigator position, how on earth did they fit 3 men in this ?
