Thanks for the information Luthier I can't wait to see what the cannon damage model looks like.

Quick question, when a wing structure I.e. Spars... Are heavily damaged will we see evidence of elastic and plastic deformation under high loads or will we just see it snap?

Thanks again for the information.

Is that aimed at me?

If it is then I suggest you check out some rise of flight videos they show deformation and yes I know ww1 aircraft used fabric and wood so if il2 has something similar it would not look the same...

Forgot to mention the 'fixed' pilots - especially the Spitfire pilots.

Thanks for getting that sorted out. They look great now.

(Thought i noticed some small-scale animated movements of the Spitfire pilot's head in a few of the shots, but can't be certain)

Nope, not aimed at anyone in particular, that's why I didn't quote anyone.

I'm Just amazed at what some find important in a "flight sim".

Don't get me wrong, I love eye candy in games but this is a flight sim for goodness sake I think we should be waiting to see what the new FM and DM has install for us

I totally agree but i would love to be chasing a aircraft that I have damaged and watch its wing slowly start to bend and then shear off as it pulls a high g manoeuvre trying to escape me.

Or to be honest watch my own wing tear off as I try in vain to shake off that @/?!£& chasing me

BTW - I like the little dogfight map. It's nostalgic - brings back memories of the Il2 islands and other small dogfight maps that were the rage in the early days.

This video made me think/hope for something new - especially for new pilots who never flew Il2 like we did. I'd be very happy if I opened up the sim and found in the new FMB maps labled "Online 1, Online 2" etc.... Exact recreations of the "Mountain Map" and a few others at least. It would be very, very cool.

Sometimes you guys have no appreciation for Pop aesthetics.

It's cool in the same vein as 'All your base are belong to us!' and because many of us learned to dogfight on maps like that - although I guess not all are man enough to admit it

Besides, it'll provide some relief from the "Scheisskanal".

Sometimes I think there's this vocal minority of "Recreationists" who live to spoil fun. I've lived and loved locked cockpit, no icons for at least 7 years - but the other things can be fun if you just open yourself up to them. Again, think about all the Newbs for once.

If you think I'm going to fly my 109 at stall speed after 18 August because "Goring tells me too" or that I'm going to limit team flying on RAF to Vics and "idiotrotte" then you've got another thing coming.

S!

+1! These dogfight maps were really cool. Are you talking about this map with the lake in the center, the big runway next to it and the mountains around with several grass runways? That was one of the best maps for online dogfights IMO.
Such DF maps would bring back the memorys and would still be fun today. Maybe we will get a nostalgia map pack some day
