Multi/Single player differences

Yeah, I saw a lot of people going down in flames in front of me? But all I did, was give them a friendly knock with my MGs and Cannons Seriously, I really haven't payed much attention to what happens, except when I get shot in the wing, that I notice! But the breathing, and lack of sound effect, I haven't really noticed. For some reason, the damage model sorta seems different in Single Player than Online. When I get hit in the wings, maybe not really bad. Just some MG rounds or so, I seem to have a bit of a hard time controlling the I-16. But on Single Player during the Campaign or Single Missions, it doesn't do much?
