For comms I'd suggest teamspeak 3 and maybe just "borrow" an empty channel on some established server. I' sure a nice request to the ts admin would have them arrange one with password for you both only.

Then create a simple mission with 2 planes head on airstart.
Step 2 could see you spawn at the same airfield and do the whole startup/taxi/takeoff to let the tense build up

Host the server and let him join you.

Most of all, have fun up there.
