Can't run Demo

I'm sure the staff here has other things to do than worry about those having problems with the demo, but per my dxdiag post -

* I believe I have an OK system and GOOD graphics card (at least decent)
* Without this running I can't see buying it or recommending it to others

Which is a shame as I think it'd be an easy buy for myself and a buddy.
Heck oddly enough leading up to his wedding waaay back we rented a PS2 (when it was 'new') and got the Kings Bounty for it and played that a lot.

Oh well open to any ideas, I'll look to pop back in a bit.
