Reviving this thread because I am stuck as well.

I have the solution to the puzzle, but I can't find where to enter it. The son just shows me the picture, and the father says "thanks for helping my son". The physical device on the ground is not clickable.

Where do I actually submit the answer?

EDIT: My mistake, the device on the ground IS clickable, it just doesn't have a hand cursor, and it's really small so I needed to zoom the camera in the whole way.

Zoom in to thingy near the npc:s and click on tiles there and they change places.

I set the tiles according to the paper the dwarf boy had, but he's still stuck. I can't find something to push after setting the tiles.

I was stuck on this for a long time as well, but finally figured it out. It is not very hard, though it requires a bit of patience. The paper has numbers (1-5) and five symbols. The order of the symbols on the paper IS NOT (as I initially thought also) the order of the symbols that will open the lock. If you look close (as noted, you need to zoom all the way in) you will see that the whole mess in the middle are a series of squiggly and intertwined lines connecting the numbers to the symbols. If you trace the path of the line from each number (this is where the patience comes in) to its symbol, you will find the correct order of the symbols. Then click on the device (although there must be a pattern, I basically used trial and error) to get the symbols in that order. Once you do, a secret wall will open.

That is not the order I had in my last game, so it must be random every time. But tracing the symbols to the numbers is a cakewalk, anyway.
