Career always takes off from ground, expect to be in a group.
#1 New player career problem is that the group leaves them behind.
Answer is to get airborne, gear and flaps up then stay level until your speed is up over 320-360kph then climb shallow enough that you start to gain. Fairly soon you will be at the same altitude and need to slow down to get in formation.
You can make yourself leader but better to learn to keep the nose down and make speed first. Flying near stall soaks up power, get your nose down to gain speed.
In IL2, Trim matters and Slip matters, both more than slightly.
