make sure your masking the changes in the ini files located in

C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD

and not

C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

thank you! but I had already tried that...there seems to be some type of entity that guards against those types of changes

Must be on your end, check the files aren't set to read only.
