From photo's I've done two version one with the emblem on both sides and one with it on one side. I have seen photo's with the bird emblem on both sides but with early models it's anyone's guess.
I'll put both version here and you can grab extra screenies my site.

The photo's aren't really clear and it could be a E-3 but there is a profile of this aircraft as a E4 so up to you what pigeon hole you stick it in.

Hi Found this photo of these two aircraft and decided to add them
Bf 109E1 Stab I./JG77 in early one tone camouflage WNr 3250 Germany 1939
I believe the second aircraft in the photo is Bf 109E1 Stab I.JG77 black Chevron flown by Hans Karl Keitel who was shot down Krakow 1939
