That error been noted before, its a bad patch that you have used. Usually when goty version is patched with non goty patch or other way around, basically you have game thats patched badly, for best results if you can use steam register your game using gamespy cd key with steam and then you will be patched correctly for sure.

And 1C only packages the non steam patches not makes them, DMS makes patches and no the mission wasnt ruined, that error again is caused by incorrect patch used.

Unfortunately, I purchased this game from Steam, I am patched from Steam, and I have the same error message occasionally.
Not only with this mission. I have this error also when I am using some custom developed missions. After I delete this missions from Mods directory, the game continue to crash on start-up. I have to re-install the game files, in order to play again. Some times this happens even without any intervention from my side, just during the game. But mostly on game start-up.
