The MoW games are some of most user friendly games when it comes to tweaking them. You can change or mod just about anything. It only depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it. It sounds like you just need to improve your Tactics. For me getting my butt kicked is just part of the game, that and saving. Are you using "Direct Control".
