There are some things you can do:

#1 First of all is decreasing the graphics ingame. Toggle some major settings on / off
#2 Renew graphic-card-drivers
#3 If you can do it: clean the notebook
#4 Dont put it on a blanket or something like that, use a desk
#5 Go to the battery symbol on the taskbar, rightclick it and hit "Energy Options" (Im freely translating here, so you may need to search it under another name);
Most of the times you'll be on "balanced", if so, hit "change energy saving options / properties", then look at the bottom and hit "change enhanced energy options"; look for "processor-settings" or "processor energy options"; check if the system cooling is on "active" and then hit "maximum power of processor" and decrease it from like 100% to about 65%.

This also means: your laptop is going to be slightly slower BUT it wont be that hot anymore. Increase it again, step by step and find the individual setting helping you to keep playing kb wotn for a long more time.
