It does, but I think you have to kill one of them anyway (Lenderkhat or something like that). And you fight the cerberi of one other guy, it is one of the two that remain. I have no idea what he says if you do not have the stone - if you do, he just takes the stone and signs the treaty, I believe.

Just to be clear and explicit: I had the lava stone and fought Lenderkhat (the invasion guy) and the cerberus guy (who survived). One of the others said the stone was some family heirloom and signed the treaty (entering Hades, turn left and go up that hill to reach his home. No idea what his name was). Did you have to fight three of them without the stone?

No, I didn't had at that time the lava stone, I smooth talked 2, fought 1 who survived and killed the fourth.

I would assume you get better rewards from the quest since you managed to get all four treaties. Probably compensates for that.

I got an extra 2 spirit runes for the lava stone from one of the four.( playing as skald)

I just did it aswell. Its Himerius, who otherwise gives you a riddle to solve. And I got 2 magic runes as Soothsayer, so its 2 class runes.
