Salute

This does seem to be the best the Developers can do.

But I would disagree that we should accept it as a fait accompli.

It should be turned over the community to see what they can do.

Well I disagree on the part that they should turn it over to community.
Then we get all the game cheats again I rather have it in this form with or without so called game bugs and in perfections so that everybody knows what they have and with experience can expect from his chosen fo.
Than enterprise FM from some cheating !@#$%^ players.
Also I think the developers are looking to make a dime out of the engine and dont want to give it away just jet
On another foot Luthier said that "The free release Su-26 aerobatics plane is a very small token of our appreciation of your support." seems to be indeed a very small token as it should have been released with the game initially.
So as welcome as it is, I don't see a thank you there only a promise fulfilled.
Only my two cents.

As a quick dogfight over the channel with BOB era aircraft simulator it now works fine(for me at least), very well in fact. Lots of fun to be had.

As a BOB simulation for online and offline, it still falls on its arse.

I have new hope for the sequel, if they learned from the past mistakes.

I understand that it's the final patch & no more dev time is allocated to further work on COD. So we didn't get the much-promised SDK's It's a shame really, I had hoped that the community would be given the opportunity to continue bug fixes & content development.
