That's right we create a VPN net.
We try multi 1 vs 1 and it seems it always result in a heavy bloodshed, with either side winning "a la Pyrrhus". We also try a 2 vs 2 against AI and we suffer an heavy defeat but I think we made some big mistakes while choosing our army. Most important part of the battle is in fact creating a balanced army  Fine game , can't wait for the patch / add on!
