So far they have been on an annual cycle with the main patch and then the patch fixes following a couple of months after the initial release. My guess is that they are hoping to at least achieve that time frame.

Well I'm waiting for the updates to FMB, AI (taxiing!) and gui. In my opinion it's a HUGE improvement.
