Just getting the CAC Mustang production going just in time for the end of the War! Still a few of the Australian make planes fought in Korea.

One of the reasons Australian industry prospered and expanded post WW 2 was because of the technological skills and know-how built up through manufacturing aircraft and aircraft engines and components, not to mention motor vehicles and machine tools, often using Australian raw materials. For example, the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp was built by CAC at Lidcolme. There's some interesting reading here.
