Default Mystery Damage

SO I hope its ok to start a thread on this, but I wonder if anyone has experienced any mystery damage, in this case, online. I hope to post a vid or track later. This happened on ATAG, while I suppose its possible it was an enemy plane or flak (as I was close to the French coast at the time) I heard nothing (no damage sound either, even from the outside view after I converted the track) and saw no tracers or smoke plumes.

Is it possible I had a failure of some sort that could have destroyed part of the wing? I wasnt performing any extreme maneuvers at the time. I ended up with some decent sized holes in my left wing, and a few spots of shrapnel or bullet damage, no idea which. Engine was running fine, and as I said, the plane wasnt under any duress at the time.

The cool part, or the glass half full part. The damage caused my left wheel to drop half way down, the Spit IIa became a handful to fly and when I landed, more crash landed... the plane slowly collapsed after coming to a stop on the wheel involved with the damage... which I thought was pretty cool.

I have experienced the same over England (some times even at 4000 Meters).

Thats what I figured it was, but the lack of exterior damage sounds or any visual cues made it hard to tell.... And with my piloting skills, for the plane to just implode due to something I did isnt unexpected

S!

In many cases you get damaged without knowing it just because the hit sounds do not play at all Old IL-2 could handle it so why not CoD? Does not have to be different sound for each bullet hitting you but for example LOUD rattle/bang/whatever telling you are being hit by something. Funny enough I can hear other planes near me and bullets whizzing by the canopy, but NOT the hits. Something odd here?

I know when I first got the game, you heard hit noises on your plane when you shot another plane, so I am sure its a bug on the waiting list to be fixed, although I dont know if its been confirmed, need to check the bug tracker and see if its listed, sure it has been...

I get hit sound VERY rarely if at all. As mentioned above I hear easier the whizzing bullets near my plane or another plane behind me..but not a slug slamming into my plane...

For sure its one of the top things they need to fix, flying along getting shot up and not knowing it till you are crashing could be a real issue

And a damn annoying one in the game supposed to be THE benchmark for all others But as you said let's hope they will eventually get to it and find a fix.

If it makes you feel better, I have played both F2P WWII games coming along... and well... IL2 is still the benchmark for WWII sims even with all its issues...

That said, if a bofor rips a hole in my wing would I not feel it as well, would the plane not shake on impact? Not just sound but shouldnt a shake be added if possible, even a nearby FLAK explosion would surely shake the plane or be heard I would think...

Been playing many too and even some upcoming titles, but that is another story A 40mm slug punching into a plane would for SURE get your attention, even it would not explode. And the change in aerodynamics of a plane due the damage will be felt in a way or another too. But as we have to have a compromise between playability and realism all we have is a limited presentation of damage and it's results. But they should give somewhat realistic feedback to the pilot..as it does in most cases in CoD. So not all is bugged
