Maybe people have a short memory or they simply weren't around at the time, but i distinctly remember several members of this forum who were constantly asking for an end to development and a release.
Funny thing is, some of them were among the group of people who then complained the loudest because it was unfinished

Just some preemptive fire extinguishing measures, that's all. If one knows in advance that one will get one's hand slapped, then one is more likely to keep said hand out of the proverbial cookie jar
