Quick questions hopefully some one can answer

1,why are they filming the journey,is this normal? possibly blame culture and you need proof.

2, seems to be no control at junctions, just seems to be a massive free for all

3, i bet the hospitals must be full of injured people,do they have to have insurance there to cover this.

I find this really scary, unfortunately i believe some of these practices are tried now in this country by people moving over here.

Yea but the FMX (my first bike was the XR, its little brother) is quite high. This means you can flick it with your hips and have more manuaveabilty and in that video he is "supposedly" doing allot more than 50kmh / 30mph... Which is why I think its speeded up. The R1 is low so its harder to just flick but better on sweeping corners. It also has a longer wheel base.

Hhehe Counter steering is cool and unerving the first time you do it. Just dont do it on a blind corner. You can always lean harder (this is where you get you knee down in Jeans ) but you can always counter steer harder and the delay from counter steer to leaning is massive.

This looks like an extreme case..but I've seen too many similar russian vids where people deliberately cause crashes.

Looks like a local village gang. They cause conflict and press a victim for money. Not very common, but may happen if you are unlucky. This is why many drive with video-recorders on - to have a proof for police. happened to me once about 12 years ago on a Moscow street: Land Cruiser came to full stop sharply in front of my Toyota Carina E. Was lucky to stop in a couple of inches. Now it is more safe in Moscow in this regard.

1. See above.

2. In smaller cities there are many junctions without traffic lights yet. A car coming form the right-hand side has priority if there are no other signs.

3. There is some small insurance and there are free hospitals (lower quality).

Road deaths statistics is very bad. Main reason is roads without central separation line which causes head strikes as you can see. Sadly I have to blame corruption for this. Also in most seasons there is poor visibility due to raining and snowing. Gogol in 19th century mentioned that one of Russian characters is to "harness slowly but ride fast"...

Driving culture in general is an issue: Christianity is only about 1000 years old in Russia, then happened 250+ years of Tatar-Mongol yoke, then slavery was cancelled only about 150 years ago, most of people of high culture had to leave the country after 1917 or were killed by communists and then by nazis in WWII. My personal opinion only that can be wrong.

Are the cameras also to prove to insurance companies? Some in the 1hr+ video on crashes (p.1 of thread) will surely be trying to hide the video seeing as it was often completely the driver with the cameras fault (turning into oncoming traffic, through red lights etc).

Why spend all that money when AK47s are cheap and easy to come by?

This why you need a gun. No threats, no fighting...
