Default clouds not visible for everyone!?

hey guys,...and yet i have encountered another really strange incident...

a squadmate and me were flying on atag today.i was behind him following, and then he disappeared in a cloud which was on my twelve.

i asked him why he did that, as i lost him due to it, and he answered somehow confused, that he didnt fly through a cloud..first i thought that he was drunk again, and just didnt recognize it, and so we went on over the channel.
then i was spotting some contacts on our 10, so i told my friend to look above the cloud at ten o clock...he answered, that he cannot see the contacts, and that there is no cloud...then i got really confused.
i tried to explain him in detail(which direction, relative altitude to us) where the cloud is supposed to be, but he still couldnt see it.
so i told him to show him the cloud...i took the lead, and he followed me right on my six..i turned towards the clowd, and told him:"look, here it is!directly at our twelve now!"
he answered:"ah this cloud, but its really far away.."

i was confused a bit, as i was already almost there...so i watched my six, and he was directly behind me, maybe 50meters distance to me.

then i told him, that i will let him know when i enter the cloud.a couple of seconds later i entered the cloud and told him so...i told him as well when i left it....his answer was really disappointing...:"there is no cloud"

so what the .... is going on with this game?

Maybe your friend has different graphics settings in game? Can he have clouds off?

this should be determined by the server and not the player!

oh and no, my mate has everything maxed out.

Its safe to assume the clouds aren't finished yet

I have noticed weird cloud events myself...

Who was hosting the game? You?

If you were hosting, perhaps the cloud hadnt loaded for you yet, but the sim was hiding him becuase a cloud should be there? Did you save a track you can watch back?

Find out what your friends in game video settings are and also what difficulty/realism levels he has check boxed. I found a strange bug with 'Headshake' disabled and another realism setting that can disable clouds even when enabled on the server but it was too intermittent to verify.

guys read my post,....this was on atag!

Edit: hey Evangeluse, i think i can faintly remember you posts back then when you mentioned the disappearing clouds with certain video settings.
but my squadmate has everything maxed out, and it was him who couldnt see the clouds while i could with lowered video settings...

I think this issue is tied to the beta nature and of the pop up clouds/trees...should be gone with the official release I would think.
