Well, if you agree with that, quite a patience you have ... they finished the planned work (6 months) but they need assemble and then do the internal test? (when in the last update they said that they are almost ready to release the patch, but in an afternoon reunion decided to postpone a little bit)... then they do not finished the work, because the work includes the internal testing to see if all goes right.

They have already released one alpha/beta patch that they worked a long time on, why would they walk away now? People need to put things in perspective, it's not like they are keeping oxygen from us.

Name something in that alpha patch that they "worked a long time on" that made you say "Ah! Excellent! They are on the right track!"

I honestly did not see one thing that was better in the alpha, and I even saw many things that were worse!

I drop in here once a week to see if anything has happened and then potter off again. I'd be a proper twat to sit here fulminating and shouting about it all. Life is worth more than that. If it works, I'll be delighted. Thank God my life is more than getting angry at people about a flight sim.

Improved speed and less CTD for me, they completely rewrote the engine which is no small task. Yes features were missing but they should be added back with this patch.

If the "complete rewrite of the engine" was such a great deal, then tell me why it didn't solve any of the problems like micro stutter, performance hit by particle, cloud and grass? We got bit more fps, bit fewer micro stutter, performance hit by particle cloud and grass still there.

Features that caused the hickups were taken out and when we get more fps it's the "complete rewrite of the engine" ? Seriously ...

That's the really frustrating part...we will wait another three to four weeks for another alpha and it won't be much different from what we have now...bank on it.

Particles will always cause a hit to performance. The more there are in a scene, the lower the frame-rates. You can manage this by lowering graphics settings.

Cool Aircraft updates - COD and BOM

Thanks Blacksix for the update. The Lag-5 looks good and will obviously lead to a progressive update of this excellent fighter type.

Going back to Ilya's earlier comments about updating the series COD and BOM, it was my understanding that both Battle scenario's will use the same engine therefore when BOM is released with the Ju88A-4, you can fly this aircraft in COD etc. etc.

Hopefully BOM will release a Bf109F-2 which you could fly in COD, although to keep COD alive with the next phase after the Battle of Britain, from a marketing point of view, it would be excellent to see a Spitfire V, Typhoon and Focke Wulf 190A-2 or A3 released. The Typhoon was sadly left out of the old series and would be an ideal aircraft to have for the progression of the Western Front air battles.

I have been out of the scene for a while without a computer, I now have an excellent setup and am progressively updating some of my campaigns with a lot of new mission building scripting information. Sadly it has been a 'trial and error' progression without proper instructions, hopefully something has been written for BOM.

I am still enjoying COD, with all its faults it is still a mighty sim. In the Campaign mission building area I am finding out more and more every day which make the missions even better. Hopefully with the new patch to be released soon, things will get even better for COD - they will have to!
