group phase means for me , addition of the results. That the "KO" system is counting already as the second decission factor in a group is new - and still odd for me. in the old system when 'points, goals, goaldifference' counted before the direct comparrison, russia would be second and greece out.

tough i respect your opinion, i think the new method is better. If 2 teams are in a draw, the best of th e2 should move forward, and the best criteria for this wich of the 2 is better is direct confrontation, or we coudl end up with a team who got a lucky strike at another and scored lots of goals (portugal- korea style), passing the group undeserved.

My onyl issue is that direct confrontation should only refer in first instance too this final phase, and not to the whole competition. Then again this is my opinion too.

Ah, I see what you mean. Group phase = more TV rights to sell = more money for UEFA and money makes football go round these days.

@Lol, Pupo. I think Germany will take care of Denmark without too many problems but Holland v. Portugal? It'll be like this
