You can have all the checks and balances in the world, but you step out of line in the big picture of influential money, you won't be around long.
Society has a hell of a lot of growing up to do before we can ever think about getting rid of corruption on any level. When things cost money, jealousy and greed will always rule the day.
About the only thing we've accomplished since the computer age that's world changing is making more advanced ways to kill people for what we want (weapons, tanks, you name it), finding ways to waste fossil fuels at an astronomical level, and essentially ruining the planet in the long haul.
When 30% of the world starves everyday, I'd hardly call capitalism or any other monetary system doing anything good at all. The only thing that comes from money is greed. Are there good people in the world? Sure there are. Name one millionaire that ever gave away every red cent he owned? He worked his ass off (maybe) to get where he was, because under the system having money means you can have a good life. And because of that system, by nature, every single one of us, unless we feel like doing nothing and dying is greedy. I'll admit it. I could be the good samaritan and make it my life goal to help as many people as possible. But we don't get paid for that. And considering goods have costs, we need to make money to live.
If our goal as a world population isn't about making society a better place, (which it's not by any force of the imagination), then I can see no good in any sort of monetary system at all.
The current world revolves around quick profits and maximizing cash flow. Why do you think a soft drink that's composed of 98% water and mixed with sugars and a whole bunch of other things somehow costs less than a bottle of water in the 1st place? That's why we can have $1 cheeseburger and some lettuce costs you twice the amount.
I go along with it - what else can you do? But to say that capitalism or any other monetary system is ever good for a society is very naive. Money is there for control and power. Every path with it is the same. And just because you have money, doesn't even come close for recognition of someone's intelligence. The 1st problem with society is thinking that in the 1st place.
And if you don't think capitalism is 100% controlled by some of the biggest thugs in the world, I'm at a complete loss. We get what we want by force. We park an aircraft carrier or battle ship out of the coast of some country to get a treaty signed, we put our own leaders in place that follow suit. We get rid of people that don't. If you don't think this goes on all the way at the top of capitalism, then you my friend, need a reality check.
This wasn't an insult/jab or anything at you BadAim. I just don't think our ideas of good or works match up. I think we have the biggest failure the world has ever seen happening right now. And money, especially a capitalistic society is %99.99999999 the cause of it. Btw, I'm not saying any other system is better, because I don't have the answers. But I do know that what we do today is an utter disgrace.
