Hi all,
I'm not 'the sharpest knife in the drawer' as regards technical issues. I'm more like a 'blunt spoon'. The representation of London in CoD for 1940 is certainly inaccurate. Why? London in 1940 was almost black in colour. This was from almost 200 years of industrial pollution on a scale far greater than we have today. It is only in the past twenty five years or so that 'clean ups' have taken place, e.g. Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. So, if we had a black London in CoD, would it improve FPS?? Anyway, it would certainly look more realistic. Best Regards, MB_Avro. |

They already chopped too much from this game. It already looks in shades of grey. Do you want them to make it black and white?
![]() ![]() It's sad. They had a such a beautiful game. ![]() ![]()

On modern graphics cards, color and b/w are just different shaders and performance differences would be negligible.

Do not forget that the coal and wood were the only way to heat homes for a century in the 1940, yes every city in the world were very dark with soot. But there is also the distance effect. Do not forget London was rebuild after the war like most of Germany cities how are now also of a very clean aspect. ![]() But do not forget this is only a game not reality! ![]() |

Maybe there will soon be comparison performance tables, graphs and charts for soot blackened cities?
Was there was more soot in London than Berlin? Is it possible to model Smog? Did Moscow escape soot? Was soot the saviour of Stalingrad? So many questions, and so few answers? Best Regards, MB_Avro. |

I don't really see the point of this, tbh. It's just a different texture that has to be loaded by the graphics card.

There is something like a "smog" model in the FMB that you can place in the landscape. It looks nice. I will post a screenshot later.

To come back to the original question: "Does Colour Change FPS?"
The answer is no. Just like CaptainDoggles said...it would just be a different texture which would not affect performance at all. Alexander |
