Make to attempt to start the game through an editor. It is done so, you press on editor.exe-->File-->Test Map-->Esc-->Main menu
If you succeeded to start the game, then a problem can be in video driver, it follows to renew it. GeForce FX 5500: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.21_whql.html Or problem is in the intro, then it is necessary to delete the all intro, it is found D:\Games\1C\XIII Century: Death or Glory\data\video

help for those whose problems haven't been answered
for those of you who have had a problem that wasn't answered in posts, this will probly fix it.
click Start and then right click "my computer" and click properties click on the advanced tab click "setting" under performance click the "data execution prevention" tab add the "engine.exe" in the XIII century folder click ok restart your computer this solved my problem instantly, good luck
