The color is there, it looks realistic and they said they would keep it that way.

In the patch notes for the last patch you can see this line:
MAIN * Drastically reworked graphic algorithms dealing with in-game color;
It was done to increase performance. The less changes in color the better it runs....of course, the looks suffer.
