He definitely didn't deserve the ban.

People have to be responsible for their actions, he didn't do anything wrong, it's the act first-think later crowd which got what they deserved.

I am really sorry, but if I see guys downloading without looking, than it is their fault. As I read the post yesterday, I directly saw, that is 1 year old.

I cannot understand such guys now whining, that there was serious damage as result. Again sorry, but do you never open your eyes before downloading and installing? Ooooooomg

And the best: Most of the pilots here do not any guy of the community and do not know, what foo bar already made for us all. That is the next fault by some gamers here. I just see very much guys, who are not aware to the game, the history and the community.

Otherwise, nobody would ever say yes for a ban of foobar!!!! He simply do not deserve it and he became a not unimportant part of the product "IL2".

So you should reject this ban.

Be careful what you all post. You all know that these posts are classed as off topic. Infractions can be handed out and the way points accumulate you could get a 6 month ban if you post enough.

OSorry, but nearly every post of nearly any guy here is somehow off topic.

Discussion threads are there. But the last weeks, nearly 20 threads are opened just to express personal thinkings. Very few threads have something to do with the game. They just want to say thank you and open the next thread, which is totally senseless from the beginning or even gets unreadable and senseless after some posts.

Sorry, but it is getting a chatroom. Sorry to say that, but this is getting more and more.

This is my last post in this manner (be sure). But some guys, who are really discussing, bug tracking and statinfg or helping at problems cannot be heard here anymore.

Hopefully my next post will be a post with content, not with such nonsense, as I am currently writing. It is simply not important, that I open a thread with my name on it to say things with no constructive topics or fill it with answers, which were already asked.

Other forums will simply close such threads and will remind about the "search button".

Now I am finished!!!!! Hopefully forever..

Foo'bar may not have intentionally caused the stir he did, but why dredge up a topic that is within a week of the date (minus a year) to the date he posted? In other words why bump a May 4th, 2011 post on April 27 , 2012 - especially when the current patch is imminant? The last patch was October 2011. Why not bump that patch/topic? How far down the forum list did he have to go to get the post he did?

To me it's not about the people who downloaded the patch by accident. I agree a second or two looking at the date and the already numerous replys to a post (that had it been current to April 27th, 2012) would not have garnered as many replies as it already had.

Logically there's no reason to believe this was a current release of a new patch.

It's the juxtaposition of the two dates (4/27/12 - 5/4/11) combined with patch fever, (and let's be honest it's also the antagonistic character the forum has taken) that causes me suspicion. For someone to have been involved with CoD for as long as he has, I find it incredulous that he'd not know the atmosphere regarding this game.

I wish him well, and hope he will be back. Hopefully we've all learned something.

Agreed. On my reading of all this he merely bumped an old thread, that is all. It is done all the time.

How could he predict that some people would be so stupid as to download an old patch without reading his post or any others?

He did not deserve a ban, no malice, no wrongdoing.

There are plenty of others I would have banned a long time ago, and many of them are the ones who downloaded and whined about the bumping of the patch thread.

Oh wait.... nope, sorry, contributing 3d models does not render a person above the law.
If you are going to invoke law, then you best point to the forum rule that was breached and why it does not result in banning in all cases.

It is a general principle present in most legal systems that people should not be held responsible for unforeseeable and unintended consequences, even if they brought them about. If they were, then everyone would have been on trial at Nuremberg.

This week, on I Take Everything Literally, we learn that "above the law" is a figure of speech

Trolling is against the rules, and anyone pretending that foobar wasn't just trying to troll people is deluding themselves

I am not a moderator so I have no idea why they don't ban all the trolls.

Don't be droll, I am directly questioning the standards you are applying. I am saying that based on the rules and 'laws' we write down, be they forum rules or legal rules, it would be difficult to point to any wrongdoing by Foo'Bar, yet you still insist on blood.

I am saying you are in favour of dispensing mob justice, just because the dumb mob got burnt. By accident and their own stupidity.

Lol well I agree there. Some things are a mystery.

Do you hear yourself? Well I'll indulge this - what are the elements of this 'trolling' offence and how has foobar met them?

Since you are calling into question the judgment of anyone who doubts that foobar is guilty before proven innocent, it might also be pertinent to describe the standards by which you tell when someone is deluding themselves.
