I am not even going to guess because there are no prizes. However, if I had to guess then I would say 4-5 weeks given luithers post today about the other minor niggles.

As the word "soon" the past 6 months has changed it's definition in Webster dictionary; from "without undue time lapse" to "when hell freezes over"... I would guess a beta patch that will adress the major graphical hickups will be released within 6 months... on the 24th of September at the latest, hopefully also adressing the launcher bug... if not it's still useless to me.
Sorry but it's hard to be more optimistic considering the time scale so far... a scenario that even luthier seems to think is somewhat embarrassing. Last edited by F19_Klunk; 03-23-2012 at 11:54 PM. |

It's already out, but they accidentally released it in a parallel timeline. The only way to get it is to travel back in time to 1955 and step on this one particular butterfly, then wait around for 57 years.

Being a developer myself I have been in their situation too many times... The code works 99% but some bug that is extremely annoying is just impossible to squash. Actually, most of the time finalizing complex code you are hunting that ONE thing that just doesn't work for some mysterious reason... It's the last 20% of a project that takes 80% of the time... Then you find some vaguely documented property of some obscure object that has changed in some framework update that you set to "false" after reading some confused thread on the net - and suddenly everything just works... Or you realize that you have to change a large chunk of code to make it work.
So - between two days and two months is my educated guess As long as they keep up the communication with posts like the one Ilya posted here yesterday, I have no problem that we don't get it. They sure know as much as us that getting a decent patch out on the market would give them a lot of breathing space that they badly need after this last year of immense pressure...

Working with customers is difficult, but working without is impossible ... as a client of mine told me once ...
