Osprey
there is a really in depth book called "The Hawker hurricane" by Francis K Mason which lists all the hurries by serial number and what happened to them throughout their careers. It's also a very good read. Unfortunately it doesn't index them by squadron just by serial number.
If you have a mind to look it up you wont be dissapointed, it's a great book.

There is a book called "British Military Aircraft Serials: 1878-1987". I imagine this contains the information you want, though I've never read it myself.

BTW, did you know your initials here are the RAF code for No.501?
