You can also go directly through multiplay, you set up a server, and your brother punches in your ip and joins your game (or vice versa). That part is fairly simple, it's getting the routers, firewalls and anti-virus and such to cooperate that gets sticky. The manual (it's in a pdf in your game folder if you don't have a hard copy) has a decent explanation of how to do it. Having an experienced online gamer can be handy to help the first time.
