Excellent comparison.
Internet vs. planes.
What future commercial product can we expect from them?

BTT:
What those guys do sure IS cool, incredible stupid too though.
Take the rocketman f.i., another a pioneer - however, if something goes wrong, he still has the parachute(and lives).
If one of those bats screws up, he's usually dead. Same goes for basejumpers.

I've known a number of skydivers and BASE jumpers. A couple of traits they all have in common are a love of life and a love of flight. This isn't a deathwish at all, it's the exact opposite. It's a lifewish.

Although to be fair... Jeb is crazy and has stated in interviews he got involved in BASE jumping because it seemed like a way to come close to killing himself, but still stay alive. So he isn't exactly the sport's greatest spokesman, ya know? Don't judge all divers by him, please.

Skydiving six years ago I had a very bad landing and broke my back. In another few years I should be healed enough to get back out there and fly again. So very much looking forward to it. It doesn't feel like falling; it feels like flying. Flying like Superman. Nothing on Earth can compare.

Swiss... Fair enough...
You don't do it... You don't want to... So be it... Some guys like to push the envelope... The guys who went to the moon were stupid... Fair enough...
Enjoy life to the full your way...
Some people die trying to do it their way... Stupid...

I'm sure you'll be happy on your deathbed...

Apples - oranges.
The ratio of of risk vs return when flying to space is quite different(although everybody fixed on the top of a rocket will piss in his diaper and there's no way to avoid it )
If fact I know an astronaut still waiting for an ISS assignment. This guy is boring as hell. Another guy working ESA, training astronauts, on the other hand is one of the most interesting and funniest persons I've ever met.

Makes me wonder how anyone can be happy facing death.

There's a reason I dont ride motorcycles - the problem is not hitting a tree at 150mph, although likely - but ending up in wheelchair, or even worse as a tetraplegic.
Hm -maybe I'll get one anyway, at least before I turn 40, lol.

I didn't expect people to be so up tight about what this guy does. I don't fly a wingsuit, but when I see the guys that do (succesfully!!), I feel nothing but awe and envy for what they do on a daily basis.

Braindead? No. A good brain is a requirement I'd say. They plan their routes, don't just fling themselves of cliffs. Not just that, but the level of concentration required to constantly adjust your flightpath travelling at such high speed and proximity to solid rock is huge.

It can't be about wanting to die, or hating life. Otherwise, they'd jump without the parachute.

S!

Everyone gets their rush out of something so why condemn these wingsuit guys. Professionally done it looks great but if someone fails..well..you know what happens and public opinion goes berserk. I sticked to parachuting...was enough thrill for me Now with age..well..less dangerous hobbies

Excellent conclusion! Whitout planes you can not make a post in a forum of a Flight Simulator!

If there is no commercial products, is it senseless (and if its senseless in this way, is it a stupid and crazy thing)?
Riding a motorcycle, sailing a boat, climbing a wall or flying paragliders has no sense on market, don't produce any saleable value. Just produce pure fun, just one step above our daily commercial society life, where the real life starts and the pure things are!
More on this kinda lifewish sometimes walks together with more risk, but they have their choice!

There is nothing future commercial for a pc user! Better wingsiuts, parachutes, and better technics for emergency chute systems are needed in aviation!
