Heheh!

My desperation got a tad bit more tolerable flying last Friday our local aviation museum's brand new Bf 109 simulator... Awesome cockpit with IL-2 1946 as a sim.

Here's a video of several times winner of WRC rally Tommi Mäkinen flying that very same simulation

by the way we have here very nice Finnish Air Force Me 109 G6 at the museum... So please feel welcome to enjoy the plane at it's full glory and fly the thing on the sim.

Hi,

Great looking picture! Been to our own aviation museum in Malta just today, will be in Helsinki next week - where is your aviation museum?

S!

The museum is within 2km from the Helsinki airport. It has less planes than the museum with this Bf109G-6 situated in Jyväskylä. I've been sitting in the Bf109G-6..oh boy took days for the grin to wear off!!

Mmhh...might both be worth a visit then, especially if they'd let me sit in the G6 as well...was allowed to sit in the Spitfire MkV they have in Malta so I know how you must have felt.

the museum I was referring is "Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo" in Tikkakoski, Jyväskylä in central Finland.

My home town and my home airfield for local flight club for flying four seater airplanes

I flew into your home airfield a few months ago.....assuming you mean the airport or do you have a smaller airstrip nearby?

Excellent! I may have to extend my stay in Finland then to go up there. I also have a friend in Sodankyla, but that's even a bit further up...how's the road network in Finland at this time of year? Advisable to go by car from Helsinki?

What plane do you fly privately? I fly a YAK 18T.

S!

Roads are in good condition at most parts of Finland, especially the main routes. I would still consider train or plane for traveling..driving at winter speeds limited to 80km/h at most parts makes it VERY slow.

Sodankylä is not that far from where I live, Rovaniemi Been there at the film festivals during summer, quite a lot of people there I hope you enjoy your stay in Finland and get to the museums
