is it this ;

"Performance. We are in final stages of testing a thorough overhaul of the game’s graphic engine. It won’t look any different but it will be much more streamlined. It’s too early to say what the FPS increase will be in the final version, but it shouldn’t be less than 50%. "

or is it that :

"there is some progress in optimizing graphics"

Both. If you search for BlackSix's and luthier's posts you will see that they faced huge difficulties with this new engine in December and now are working hard to overcome them. This it is good that any progress is made as there could be none at all. "it shouldn’t be" doesn't mean "it will not be"

I think the point Aero was making is that at first the statement was they were in 'final' stages of testing, and subsequently the next update says 'some' progress.

but my reading of it is that they have finalised the overhaul and are making some progress in the optimization of the new engine.

Yes. What I mean is testing is done to find issues. This can happen on final stage too. Thus they found a huge issue that prevents them from making big progress as they informed the community in December already. Some just missed these announcements and base their expectations on wrong (outdated) information.

And regarding too high expectations in general I wrote some time ago http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpos...&postcount=965

To me thinking of 50% increase always seemed to be too optimistic. Com'on don't you know Parkinson's laws The remaining 20% of work always takes 80% of time. It is true. Been there. (... or was it Pareto's? But Parkinson's are not better lol)
