Well, this is the system I want, I am trying to play all flight sims, I just posted in this forum, becuase the members seem by far the most helpful, and it is also the most demanding game, (Along with FSX with mega airport and AI)
http://www.chillblast.com/pconf.php?productid=17826 If you scroll down the page, I have selected the Most powerful processor, and the 3072mb Nvidia. However, I have unchecked the the drive, to the least powerful (I don't need to read/write BluRay) I have also unchecked the OS because I have the install disks at home (for XP and Win7) Would it be adviseable to have them install the OS for me? (The total cost is 1500 pounds) Which brings me onto my penultimate question... I play all flight sims, and some of them don't work on windows 7, so would CoD run anywhere near as well on XP? And my ultimate question, could I get an equally powerful computer for less money? (I didn't ignore the advice of the people telling me to get i5, but the option is simply not on the sight) Oh and how many FPS would this system give me, if all settings were max? Thanks in advance! But, this is the first time I hear that WinXP-64 can not play a WinXP game!!!! Normally you should have no problem whatsoever playing older WinXP games. Win7-64 Professional and upwards have a very good WinXP compatibility mode. Quote:

But it depends on your screen resolution (which you did not mention). If I would assume that your resolution would be 1920x then you will probably having 40fps over cities, 70-90fps flying over land and 140+ in the air. ~S~ |

I don't either! I live in Dubai, UAE, and will be having everything shipped, so getting a system from the US will be no problem! Thanks for the info by the way!

I would also check the new ATi hd 7970 (3GB) graphics card. Came out yesterday . The same price as the 3 GB gtx 580 but faster cooler and uses less power and aparantlly overclocks like mad ....

Thanks to GRAthos, I know a good place in Dubai where I can get a computer built in under 2 hours. Due to various circumstances, the best specs they can offer me are as follows. (Bear in mind that I just want to run CoD at a consistent 30FPS over london at almost max settings, and I can always upgrade parts in the future):
GTX 580 1.5GB i7 2600k at 3.3ghz 8GB of RAM (Kingston) 850w Power Supply Nice Case These are my final specs, are they good enough to run at 30FPS over London? And thanks one more time to GRAthos! Your advice was much appreciated! Last edited by Jack Morris; 01-11-2012 at 03:45 PM. |

My PC has nearly the same specs as those, and before I gave up on the game I averaged about 55-58fps nearly everywhere, and flying over London was no issue at all.
With this you will wonder how anyone could fly at 30 fps. |

Builings Detail Low Forest Off Buildings amount Medium Grass off If you have 1680 x 1050 you should do better than that with your 3Gb 580 GPU. If you have 1900 res I would expect you to get at least as good as I do on 1680. So you could start as above or just whack it on Very High, play with the settings and see how it goes. Forest is a huge resource hog (all those individual swaying glittering trees) and are pointless except perhaps at lower settings just for the eye candy. The trees do not have collision modelling so you can fly through them. Actually its the enemy planes that sometimes try to hide in them thinking they can because they have Forest On but if you have it off/very low you can see them, they can't hide. ![]() Short answer - you will be fine but you may not be able to run fully maxed out (who can?). Don't fret about London. Its become a bit of an informal bechmark but I've never actually had to fight over London.

Hi Jack,
I would say the GTX580 1.5Gb is a NO GO! Waste of money. If they do not have a 3Gb GTX580 then check if they have 2,5Gb GTX570 If they dont, check if they have GTX560ti 2Gb NV will bring the next generation of cards soon (=insallah) so the GTX580 1.5Gb will lose its value in seconds after that. Therefore it may be better if no other option to buy a smaller cheaper card (GTX560ti 2Gb) and wait, rather than wasting so much money. 8GB of RAM (Kingston) Why only 2x4Gb!? Send me the model of the MOTHERBOARD they want to give you. I always recommend the three+three RAM slots (DDR3) motherboards (so that you can go to 3x2Gb = 6 or 6x2Gb= 12 or 3x4Gb =12 Remember, with a lot of RAM you will be able to create 6Gb RAMDISKS and run your games from there, it will be much better performance. 850w Power Supply is a bit small if you want to keep the PC (and you probably will since you like the case (I like their big cases a lot ![]() Over London the game consumes 2.4Gb VRAM. If your card has less than that you have trouble (actually no trouble, just 50% less fps) My 2cents ~S~ Last edited by 335th_GRAthos; 01-11-2012 at 08:15 PM. |

The 1155 socket, which the 2600K uses exclusively, will only deal with dual channel DDR3, you can't fit three or six sticks in any motherboard compatible with that CPU (well, three as two and one leaving an empty socket, but that's not ideal).
