ive been wondering what is it within a TV that can make it good monitor ? what does one look for basicly ? or is there some trial and error.

my dev friend uses 2 x 32 inch samsung tv,s for his kartsim development and wonderfull looking graphics. when i plug my pc into my 37 inch its just stupidly crap looking.
