Hola Cazador,

I usually fly with my cousin and he is suffering the same issue.

Win 7 32 bits. He cant fly in Channel Map.

If you find the solution please inform us. It´s very annoying cause Channel Map in full realism is amazing.

Un saludo,

"Xe"

Thank you all for you advices. I have made a closer follow up of RAM usage using the Task Manager and have seen that at the point of the CTD my total RAM usage is just about 70% of the 4 GB, so 2,8 GB.

This value is made of: 1,3 GB for Launcher.exe usage + 0.7 GB of other visible Win7 applications and services (quite few as I run CloD on a dedicated partition of my HD with a clean Win7 install) + 0.8 GB of hidden Win7 services (not noted so far).

I do not know who is resposible, if Win7 or ClOD but it seems RAM management is very poor in this Sim. And I can not understand why this difference flying off or on line. Online connection should not overload memory usage at the point of shut down the program.

At least I see I am not alone with this issue. I am afraid I will have to start saving some money to renew my CPU/MB/RAM as I did with the GPU, thinking the heaviest load would fall on the graphics side. I have flown IL2 from its very beginning with smaller PCs and never found such problem with memory handling.

Hola Cazador,

I had the same problems as you, I tried many things but finally scope ram as the cause of them, did multiple tests and I found launcher crashed when ram limit was approached or close to the 3gb for 32bits.

I changed W7 to 64 bits version and the experience is quite differente now, I had the same RAM as before (4gb in dual channel) but now I can play online and off-line (some off-line missions use a lot of RAM too) without the continous launcher.exe curse on the screen.

Maybe next patch will solve it but if you are not patient as me I think better move to 64 bits OS

My specs are:

w7 pro 64 bits
4gb in dual channel
core2 quad 6600 @2,40
nvidia GTX460 1GB (285.62 drivers)

Hi,

Got plenty of RAM, 16g on a Windows 7 64bit, IL2 runs pretty good off-line. Can get on-line and fly around, but for some reason, it crashes randomly.

Again, don't seem to have any probs off-line, but on-line, random crashes; it just freezes up, then windows says that "launcher.exe stop responding..bla bla bla".

Kind of wierd. I did notice that my network card had a driver update, so I am going to apply the update and see if it helps, but I'm not real optimistic.

You must have a 64bit OS to run this game.

However it doesnt seem to matter now. CTD's are worse than in BETA patch 1 and 2...

I have been around these forums for a number of years with a different login name, mainly reading and gleaming info with occasional posts,

I just wanted to add my thoughts, the launcher problem certainly seems worse after the last patch, I have 12GB of ram. launching/starting the game with Track Ir, Teamspeak 3 and the joystick profile software running uses about 3.4 GB, the game will crash/lock up when the memory leak builds up to a total use of 5.9>6.0 GB used every time.

My squad has just decided to move to this game engine for our "official" mission nights and this bug is already causing issues for most of us with random lockups/crashes for most of us and a regular lockup/crash for the host.

So for a candidate for understatement of the year so far.......

I am finding this mildly annoying !!

Thanks for these posts. Will watch the Task Manager / Performance next time online. Those CTD's in ATAG yesterday along with the Steam crashes drove all but a few players away for a while.
