Great vids.. she still looks efficient and deadly!
Yes, wish they would get rid of the music.. any aviation buff just wants to hear the engine for gods sake!..

The Germans never figured out how that thing actually stayed airborne, so I am not surprised he doesn't have too much faith in it

Look at the work on the ctr column and rudders. Look like he is jogging in the cockpit

That is one big nice looking aeroplane. I wanted to see a picture from above to see if it would vanish like in the sim

S!

Well after reading Guards Regiment IL-2 pilot's memoirs I really do not understand how our beloved game modeled the plane being so easy and flawless. Those flying tanks were underpowered heavy slugs and engines boiled even on CRUISE! Also mentioned the IL-2 was not impervious to 20mm fire as we are led to think. AAA shot down a lot of them over the front and most of it was..TADAAA..20mm

Not to mention the production rate causing them to be of VERY wide range of quality, but many times below average. This from a Russian WW2 IL-2 mechanic living in Helsinki these days, if not deceased already. He said the engines were crap, lasted a few flights and had to be overhauled or changed. Closer to war's end it was just easier to dump the planes as new came so fast from factories.

Anyway, good to see a historical aircraft flying again and so meticulously rebuilt. I bet it is finished better than a single IL-2 ever was rolling out from the production lines.
