Your copy of IL-2 Cliffs of Dover is either half-full or half-empty.

These "next gen" flight sims will tax your computer system and have problems, bugs and faults. These issues may or may not be fixed. As more users upgrade their hardware a lot of the perceived "problems" will disappear. As the Devs find solutions to issues new ones will appear. Such is the present state of flight sim gaming, a reality I am guessing will not be changing anytime soon.

Personally, my IL-2 Cliffs of Dover cup is half-full and rising.

I fly IL-2 series since 2001/2.

TODAY i only fly in IL-2 Cliffs of Dover. And i was really happy with IL-2 1946 with Ultrapack 3.0...

So, my glass is full and i'm getting a new one to fill with next patch!

IL-2 Cliffs of Dover is the last title of this series. And the first with a really upgraded core engine.

The release was bugged, a lot of features are missing, it's a beta software. But it's really a next generation air combat simulator, not "modded IL-2 with steroids":

Nice video LoBiSoMeM. But your CLoD bias obviously comes through in that video. How come you didn't rich the mixture, use the wheel brake or stick your 6DoF head out like an ostrich and admire the grass with the 46' hurry? Anyway, it looks to me like it boils down to mouse clickable cockpit, some upgraded graphics and a difference in sound. That's it??? Six years, $8 million dollars and that's what we get???

The fact is, we have no idea as to the accuracy of the CLoD flight models. At least with the 46' mod flight models, they have stood the test of time and scrutiny in the IL-2 community. The corner speeds, the top speeds, the climb rates, the ceiling rates, the dive speeds, thermal temps, fuel capacities, wing loading, supercharger altitudes, mixture changes, roll rates, etc., etc., etc. I could go on and on. These things have been discussed ad nauseum on various IL-2 boards for years. All this proven and verified to historical documentation from years of work done by Oleg/1C and the IL-2 community.

On the other hand, the CLoD Hurry, we have no idea as to the accuracy, except the visuals like the cockpit layout. There is no device link tool to tell us if they got the CEM or FM correct. We must rely strictly on a belief in Luthier because Oleg, unfortuneatly for all of us, decided to ditch the game. Remember, Oleg was the aero engineer behind the game. I'm not sure Luthier has that background too. Hopefully he is more than just a programmer and understands flight models as well as Oleg. Otherwise, this game will never reach potential.

We are here to help debug the game.

You put all your eggs into this basket and its not perfect so now you can't escape reality like you wanted to. Stop your moaning and whinning about everything you don't like. Every time I see somebody use the word fanboy as a cut down I'm thinking and your not? There is one person in here that is always f5,f5,f5 wheres my update and then bitches about it when it gets here.
It's starting to sound like the dying Ubiforums over here.

First of all the term "fan" comes from the word fanatic and is totally overused as it only really applies to the most hardcore fanbois which is another lame catch phrase I can't believe I'm repeating. Just because you watch a football game every once in a while doesn't automatically make you a "fan" it make you a casual watcher. It doesn't mean that you are going to take your shirt off, paint your self up like and freaking moron and stand outside the game you couldn't get tickets to so you can hassle the other team's "fans" as they make their way from the parking lot to a venue which you are not admitted.

Now that that's out of the way, take a deep breath, sit down, and PUT A SOCK IN IT! Besides, who the hell are you to be calling anyone else a loser anyways while you sit there in your star wars underoos and masterbate to your life sized slave girl Princess Laya (and if I spelled it wrong its because I am not a complete nerd but you definitely are if you know I spelled it wrong) poster. All the bitching in the world is not going to change the fact that when you come to forums such as these you will be hearing all the bitching in the world. Let's just keep adding to the bitchfest why don't we.

Oh just for the record, many people spend a few minutes perusing these forums trying to find fixes or at least promises of fixes for outstanding issues they are experiencing because they paid for the program and would like to get it into some sort of workable state. Not so they can sift through all the flaming turds being lobed to and fro stating "you're dumb" "no you are" "no you" "nanny nanny poo poo!" Grow the hell up kiddies.

Sorry everyone for putting you through that, I will crawl back under my bridge now.

That are no fans, that are people which pull things down to elevate themselves.

Real fans don't whine, real fans write bug reports with documented facts and try to help the devs and the community!

CoD was a premature baby, but look how it has developed already.

The next official patch will, imo, elevate CoD to a full fledged sim, where the devs can start to get the icing on the cake.

But that is just my opinion, which is shurely not shared by everybody.
+ exactly

Constructive criticism is the way to go. Dont give a game that has incredible potential a bad rep, get involved and submit the bugs without the whine...

But there are alot of children on the internet who dont realize this, I myself am afraid of people giving Cliffs of Dover a bad rep...why? because i dont want to loose this game (The only new WW2 Flight sim) because of all the whiners and moaners and boycotters.

It's just silly, help out the devs or just go away.

Did I mention it was selling for $12.49 on Get-Games. Looks like your worst nightmare might be coming true. And you thought Halloween was over. Muhahahahha!!!!

But seriously, what if you did lose it. What's the worst that could happen, God forbid you might actually go outside, or spend some time with your wife and kids instead of playing WW2 hero for hours and hours.

Truthfully I bought the game believing my rig wouldn't run it, and I was delighted when I found it ran just fine with a few annoying small bugs that are sorting themselves out slowly.
Like many here I pop in looking for what is being worked on and what is going to be included in any updates. I fly a few sims so it's not like I have nothing else to play, but it is a forgone conclusion that there are going to be juvenile, inane comments made by a few individuals that I dismiss as I would any smart-aleck teenager. I like the sim, warts and all. It will get better, might take awhile, but it will. I feel the OP's frustration but everyone has a right to their own opinion; narrow-minded or biased as it may be.

...and what is wrong with RO2 ?!

RO2 is an evolution of RO1 of course: but it's more CoD than Arma... and the majority of RO veterans are angry at this new gameplay.

Add bugs, bad map design, horrible gameplay decisions and you have a complete failure.

My squad is playing IL2, CloD (a few guys) and Invasion 44 at the moment:
