Most of it is self-explanatory if you start with opening someone else's mission and studying how it is organized. Most of more difficult questions were discussed on the forums here or on airwarfare.com already. Some threads can be very useful.
If you open an online mission you will see that a spawnplace is just another object in the object browser like an aircraft or a tank.
